Volunteering

I have volunteered to help run the Looe enterprise Centre in Looe, Cornwall. Not only that but I have offered to work there unpaid, full-time, as general manager.

It would mean me driving to Looe, about 15 miles, each day and it would mean the cutting back of my electric vehicle work but I wouldn’t mind that.

It would get me back into a working routine again. I have been self-employed for many years now and I have lost the feeling of what it means to get up, go to work, do a days work and come home. Sure, I work very hard at home but this would be different. Being self-employed and working from home if I want a lay in I just do it! I won’t be able to do that anymore and I think that is a healthier, more organised, way of life.

They haven’t accepted my offer yet but if they do then I will be working full-time from now on. OK, unpaid, but when I have done a good job for them it might lead on to something else with a wage… who knows… but that right now is not the objective and all I want to do right now is to get myself settled into a regular work routine and contribute to their success.
