Many of you will now have had a chance to try out the prototype EV Route Planner at:
This was a proof of concept for a future version that I thought I would be able to develop some time this year.
I hope you have found it useful so far 🙂
I have now decided that I am not able to develop this planner any further. I have a number of things going on in my life right now that make commiting to this project difficult.
Rest assured that as things stand, I have no intention to close the planner down.
Instead, I am considering licensing the planner code as “open source” and making it available to everyone. To be honest… there isn’t anything ground-breaking in it but if it can give someone a kickstart then that has to be a good thing.
So, I shall be investigating how to go about making the Planner open source over the next few weeks and hope to publish it as an Open Source project some time in April.
There have been a few offers of sponsorship and one offer of a collaboration with a major university but I feel that, inspite of their flattering offers, the best course I can take is to stop development myself and to make it open source for others to take up the reigns if that is something they wish to do.
So more on all this in the next few weeks.
In the meantime everyone is welcome to use the current version of the planner at the link above.
