RTW: Day 2: Departing Málaga

I woke up to a balmy 14C sunny morning here in Málaga. I can’t say I was sorry to be leaving that B&B but it served a purpose. The bus ride from Málaga city centre to the airport was just as easy as the ride in yesterday. 20 mins and 3EUR.

Arriving at the airport was a bit of a shock. Málaga airport is big. People everywhere and I suppose, when I think about it, what I would expect of a big holiday destination. It is just that it was so quiet yesterday.

I arrived 10 mins too early to check in which opened at 8am… 2.5hrs before departure. Check in was quick and smooth and they checked me in right through to Delhi. Fast track security worked well and I was able to bypass the massive queue.

The Sala lounge is big and spacious but feels a little dated. Breakfast was a standard continental but the Nespresso coffee was particulary nice.

Bubbly selection in SALA lounge Málaga airport

Although I generally don’t drink alcohol in the mornings (well I do occasionally but not on this trip!) I did check out the bubbly options. No champagne (but could that be because of the time of day?) but there was a Moscato, a Lambrusco and a Cava. I might have tried the Moscato but the wine selection here was cheap-looking and uninspiring. I hope there is better in Helsinki when I might fancy a glass of something.

It is my first time flying with Finnair and also on the A321 so very looking forward to it.
